På resande fot

Okristligt tidigt i morgon bitti sätter jag mig på ett flyg till vad vissa benämner som "Det heliga landet". Med andra ord så åker jag till Israel i morgon. Resan arrangeras av Svenska kommittén mot antisemitism och vi ska tillbringa större delen av tiden på Yad Vashem*.

Att åka till Israel för att lära sig mer om antisemitism känns som ett helt projekt. Med tanke på att min kunskapsnivå är ganska låg från början har jag läst på om antisemitism idag, om historiska antisemitiska strömningar och om förintelsens historia. Ändå har jag bara skrapat på ytan, att dessutom befinna sig i ett land som Israel sätter perspektiv på tillvaron...


*Yad Vashem, the Holocaust Martyrs' and Heroes' Remembrance Authority, is Israel’s national Holocaust memorial. It was established in 1953 by an act of the Israeli Parliament (Knesset) which defined its function as follows: “To gather unto the homeland all commemorative material regarding members of the Jewish people who fell, fought and rebelled against the Nazi enemy and German satellites, to establish a memorial for them and for the communities organizations, and institutions that were destroyed because they were Jewish, and to perpetuate the memory of the Righteous Among the Nations.”
